Restaurant Meals

At WCFR, we nourish our clients through nutritious scratch-made meals using fresh ingredients sourced from Second Harvest, Northwest Harvest, Peirone Produce, Yoke’s and others.  The generosity of these organizations; foundation grants; and private donations allows our diners to enjoy their meals at no cost.

Our licensed restaurant follows the standards established by the Spokane Regional Health District for commercial restaurants. We offer women and children a full-service restaurant experience, complete with hostesses that greet and seat them, servers and table attendants. Our professional chef oversees our volunteer kitchen workforce of prep cooks, expediters, platers, dishwashers, pantry workers, bakers and other valued members of our support team.

Nutrition Essentials

We teach families to improve their physical and financial health through nutrition education, cooking skills, and how to stretch limited food dollars. Nutrition Essentials is designed to equip women and children with knowledge and resources designed to improve their overall health and reduce the risk of preventable diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Support includes cooking workshops and goal setting for women’s health, and the health of their families.

We currently offer weekly classes throughout the year. Students receive recipes and fresh food at each class.  The program is offered in collaboration with EWU’s public health program and we receive hands-on support from WSU nursing students.

Nutrition-to-go

This unique meal program expands our reach and complements the services of other community organizations that serve our target population. Meals are distributed to more than two dozen partner programs in Spokane County.  Women, children and families flourish through this collaborative effort to improve their quality of life.

We prepare and deliver nutrient-rich group and individual meals to partner organizations that distribute the meals to their clients. Collaborating with Transitions, Catholic Charities, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, YWCA, VOA and others allows our partners to do what they best while we do what we do best. Some of our partners experience higher attendance for their vital services when a nutritional meal is offered.  This service is offered at no cost to our partners – all food and financial donations to support this program are secured by WCFR.
